One day the thing that healed someone becomes the thing that pays their rent.
What changes then?
What is it like to be a wellness practitioner with million pressures and zero regulation?
This evening explores the most important, and least openly discussed questions in modern wellbeing.
Together with experienced practitioners, we’ll examine how healing changes when it becomes a profession, and why understanding that reality helps all of us make better choices.

Why This Conversation Matters
Never before have there been so many therapists, coaches, facilitators, bodyworkers, psychologists, mentors and practitioners helping people navigate modern life.
Many have transformed thousands of lives. Many entered this work for exactly the right reasons. But a mental health profession has a demanding reality.
The same person may now be a practitioner, a business owner, a marketer, a community leader and an employer. And a parent.
And a human being with their own unresolved issues.
They are expected to care deeply, maintain professional boundaries, continue learning, stay visible online, build a sustainable practice and somehow navigate all of those responsibilities with wisdom and integrity. The better we understand those realities, the shortcuts, the blind spots and the challenges, the better decisions we can make, both as practitioners and as the people choosing who to trust.
We spend surprisingly little time talking about how to make choose a practitioner and how long to stay with them. We ask friends for recommendations. We read testimonials. Or god forbid, we Google ‘best therapist in my area’.
We choose based on wrong factors.
- How well someone is marketing themselves.
- How comfortable they are in front of a camera.
- How our friends vibes with them.
Friends with totally different histories, parents, nervous systems and goals. SEO performance and presentation are not related to how well the practitioner is able to hold you and understand you.
In this conversation we teach how to choose better. How to understand practitioners better. In this conversation we show practitioners how to become better at what they do.
What We’ll Explore

Some of the questions we’ll explore:
- What changes when helping becomes someone’s livelihood?
- What pressures exist that most clients never see?
- How do thoughtful practitioners make difficult decisions?
- Where does professional maturity come from?
- And what makes someone truly trustworthy?
It is an opportunity to explore the realities of modern healing from multiple perspectives. Together with experienced practitioners on the panel, we’ll look at the questions that shape this profession but are rarely discussed publicly. Because better conversations lead to better choices, for practitioners and seekers alike.
What to expect

- A relaxed evening picnic in the garden.
- A thoughtful panel conversation.
- A guided small-group discussions with the people around you.
- Time to ask questions.

- Time to hear perspectives that challenge your own.
Who Should Come

This conversation is for anyone interested in how we navigate healing in modern life.
- You may be looking for support yourself.
- You may work in the field.
- You may simply be curious about how trust, responsibility and care intersect in a profession that has changed enormously over the last decade.
If these questions matter to you, you’ll feel at home here.
The event is open to men and women. Introvert and neurodivergent-friendly.

In How to Choose a Practitioner, we shift the focus from the practitioner to the person seeking help, examining how we make these decisions, what shapes our judgment, and how to navigate an increasingly sophisticated wellbeing landscape with greater clarity.
And in When helping becomes a profession, we shift the focus from the person seeking help to the practitioner, examining how their realities and conflicts affect the quality of care they are able to offer.
Modern Women Bali has always been built around conversations.
Some happen in workshops. Some over dinner. Some through our writing.
This is one of conversations we explore. One we believe is long overdue.
We hope you'll join us.
